1. Be aware that designs for comparative experiments are optimal for a linear mixed model.
2. Know how to describe the factor allocation in an experiment and use it in formulating a mixed model analysis of a response.
3. Able to randomize standard designs in R using the crossing and nesting of factors.
4. Able to perform the eigenanalysis of a wide range of designs in R and to use the resulting anatomy tables to understand and evaluate designs for comparative experiments.
5. Be able to distinguish between confounding and aliasing and understand the role that confounding plays in an experimental design
